  • Volunteer Opportunities

  • Volunteering at the Morro Bay Maritime Museum is a rewarding way to share and celebrate our local maritime heritage. No prior experience is needed—our team will provide training and educate you to become a knowledgeable docent, ready to welcome and engage visitors.

  • Docent: Volunteer in the Museum gift shop 3 hours a week and/or help lead small groups during school/private tours. A chance to interact with museum visitors that come to Morro Bay from all over the world!

    Fundraising: Develop creative ways to raise money to keep our vessels afloat, and bring new exhibits to the museum.

    Events: Join the Event Committee and plan and execute special events. Fun at the museum and for the museum!!

    Marketing/social media: Join our website/social media committee and work with our advertising agency to raise awareness of the museum and programs. It’s a new skill to embrace.

    Exhibit Maintenance: Adopt an exhibit and help with the upkeep and enhancements, or just help us to maintain the museum exhibits and open spaces.

    Board of Directors: Help us set a course for the future!

    Kids Program: Support hands-on learning experiences for children by assisting with educational activities, interactive exhibits, and special events. Volunteers help inspire curiosity and a love for maritime history while engaging with school groups and families in a fun, welcoming environment.
